New Jersey Communities Gather for Alzheimer's Walk

The Bristal Assisted Living communities at Somerset, Englewood, Wayne, Woodcliff Lake, and Waldwick participated in the Alzheimer's Association's Walk to End Alzheimer's at Overpeck Park in Ridgefield Park, NJ.

The annual event of the Bergen-Passaic chapter of the Alzheimer's Association raised over $200,000 for Alzheimer's Research this year. The participants representing the New Jersey communities of The Bristal Assisted Living made up one of the 107 teams participating in the September 15th walk, which boasted more than 750 participants in all.

Residents, family, and team members carried  yellow, blue, orange or purple pinwheels, to represent various ways in which Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia have impacted their lives.

Every community of The Bristal Assisted Living offers Reflections - a private and secure neighborhood for those living with Alzheimer's disease and other related types of dementia.  All programs in Reflections are designed to reinforce a sense of place and purpose for residents, helping to navigate the unique challenges that memory-related cognitive impairments pose to older adults and their families.
