Our Foundation: A Commitment to Excellence in Care
The Bristal Assisted Living was founded on the principle that all residents deserve a safe and supportive home environment, where their care needs are met by highly trained and compassionate team members adhering to the highest standard of excellence. To ensure empathetic service, The Bristal continuously primes our staff using the Hands-On & Hearts-In® sensitivity training program, which applies an evidence-based approach across all resident interactions in our communities, especially within our Memory Care neighborhoods.
Advancing Memory Care: A New Research Partnership
In alignment with our mission to provide empathetic support and elevate quality of life, The Bristal is proud to announce our participation in a research study funded by the National Institute on Aging, led by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association®. This study will evaluate the effectiveness of dementia care training programs, essentiALZ® and Project ECHO®, within 126 assisted living locations, including select locations of The Bristal.
Training Programs Tailored for Memory Care
The essentiALZ and Project ECHO programs, developed by the Alzheimer's Association, are innovative online training resources designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff in memory care settings. Covering five key areas - Alzheimer's and dementia basics, person-centered care, assessment and care planning, activities of daily living, and communication changes and dementia-related behavior - these programs deliver practical, evidence-based insights for staff to implement daily.
Engaging Residents and Families
As part of this research, residents and family members will be randomly selected for interviews to provide feedback on the training outcomes. The study aims to determine if these programs help staff feel better prepared and improve care quality for both residents and team members.
Our Promise
In addition to the study's training programs, The Bristal continues to implement our Hands-On & Hearts-In® sensitivity training. This program is core to our mission, empowering staff to facilitate meaningful, supportive interactions in daily caregiving and care planning.
At The Bristal, we believe that staying connected to the latest developments in memory care and continually refining our training outcomes are vital to fulfilling our mission of enriching seniors' lives. Our participation in this study underscores our promise to continue providing the highest standard of care for our residents.
Alongside our residents and families, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those living with memory loss.
