Celebrate Creativity: Announcing the Winner of Our Annual Holiday Card Contest

Every year, residents across The Bristal communities look forward to one of our most beloved traditions -- our annual Holiday Card Contest.

This spirited, nondenominational celebration of creativity and community has been part of life at The Bristal for as long as we can remember, and it remains a highlight of the season for residents, family, and team members alike.

This friendly competition invites residents from all of our online communities to submit original artwork inspired by the festivity and seasonal joy this time of year brings. From charming winter scenes to heartfelt expressions of togetherness, the submissions never fail to delight and this year promises to be no different.

AND THE WINNER IS....

Holiday Card Contest 2025 (2)

Congratulations to Mike B. from The Bristal at Massapequa! His lovely painting of a cardinal pair in a winter scene received the most votes in our annual Holiday Card Contest, and will be distributed as the official holiday card design for The Bristal Assisted Living.

Mike is "over the moon" to have won, according to Lifestyle Director Shannon. When asked for his reaction to winning, Mike said, "I feel honored to have my painting selected for The Bristal Holiday Card. Three years ago, when I moved in, I asked Shannon, our Lifestyle Director, how I could go about learning to paint. Shannon made it happen by introducing me to Nancy, a volunteer who comes in to teach watercolor. Thanks to her support, I now enjoy painting on a regular basis."

Honorable Mentions

While we had many beautiful and festive submissions, there were a few that attracted a lot of votes and are worthy of an honorable mention. Congratulations to Ruth P from The Bristal at White Plains for her snowy cabin in the woods, to Eileen F from The Bristal at Somerset for her rabbit and chickadee in a winter scene, and to Corinne L. from The Bristal at Jericho for her playful winter cottage path design.

Lastly, we would like to send a very special thank you to Annette L. from The Bristal at Wayne who sent us a Victorian-inspired, decoupaged art journal which really speaks to the spirit of the season and the joy and beauty that it brings.

A heartfelt thank you to all who submitted designs and all who voted! We're already excited for next year's submissions.

A Cherished Celebration of Creativity

Programming at The Bristal is designed to spark engagement, purpose, and joy. This contest is a perfect example of that. It's art with meaning: a chance to showcase talent, express warm holiday wishes, and come together as one much broader community through the lens of creativity.

Below are a few of our beautiful past winning designs and favored others. They truly are shining examples of the imagination and spirit our residents bring to this time-honored tradition.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating creativity and building community. Happy Holidays!
