Exceptional Leadership: Vice President of Operations Named 2025 LIBN Hall of Fame Inductee

We are proud to share that our Vice President of Operations, Richard Youngberg, has been named one of just 14 honorees for the 2025 Long Island Business News Hall of Fame

This distinction, awarded only once in a leader's lifetime, recognizes individuals whose achievements, vision, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on the region.

As Chief Operating Officer, Amy Silva-Magalhaes, shared,

"This prestigious recognition highlights Rich's exceptional leadership, dedication, and contributions -- not only to our organization but also to our industry and the Long Island business community. His ability to drive results, mentor others, and lead with integrity has left a lasting impact on all of us."

The Hall of Fame, curated in collaboration with an external panel of business leaders selected by Hofstra University, honors those whose influence shapes the future of Long Island. As Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, Managing Director of Long Island Business News, noted, Hall of Fame honorees are "distinguished leaders who have made a profound impact on our communities and our careers... Each of our honorees has qualities we all aspire to emulate and accomplishments we admire."

A Leader with Storied Roots in Senior Living

Rich's career with The Bristal Assisted Living spans more than two decades. He joined the organization in 2004 as an Executive Director, where his approachable leadership style, strong business acumen, and focus on relationship-building quickly distinguished him. From mentoring emerging leaders to navigating complex operational challenges, he brought a steady, forward-thinking approach that contributed to the growth of our communities.

His path later led to roles as Regional Director and ultimately Vice President of Operations, where he continues to set high standards, champion innovation, and empower teams across communities.

Rich's professional foundation is equally noteworthy. He holds a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Hospitality Management from the New York Institute of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from LIU Post, bringing together expertise in service, care, and the unique needs of older adults.

A Career Shaped by Connection

Before stepping into a leadership role, Rich began his career in an unexpected place: as a waiter in a senior living community. It was there he discovered the profound value of authentic connection, which is at the heart of his approach to senior care. The wisdom, humor, and life experiences of residents left an imprint on him.

As Rich has said, "They've lived through so much, and they deserve nothing less than the best quality of life and care we can provide." His commitment also extends to the teams who make that quality of life possible, ensuring they feel empowered, valued, and supported every step of the way."

Recognizing Excellence

This year's honorees were celebrated at the Hall of Fame Awards on Wednesday, November 12th at the Crest Hollow Country Club, followed by a special profile feature in the November 14th issue of Long Island Business News.

As an organization, we are incredibly proud to see Rich recognized at this level. His influence is felt in not only the outcomes he drives, but in the people he lifts up and the values he embodies every day.

Please join us in congratulating Richard Youngberg on this extraordinary and well-deserved honor.
