The Bristal at North Woodmere hosted a surprise celebration for residents Fred, 95, and Elaine, 89, to honor their remarkable 69th wedding anniversary! The party included live entertainment, a champagne toast, and a beautiful cake.
Fred’s journey is one of resilience and hope. A Holocaust survivor who arrived in America as a war orphan, he built a life for himself before meeting Elaine.
The couple was set up by a family friend. Fred showed up to their first date in a hot pink convertible and took Elaine to The Copacabana. "I told him I had to be home early, just in case it wasn't going well!" Elaine laughed. "But we met up again soon after, we really got along right away."
Within a year, in 1956, Fred and Elaine were getting married at The Empire Hotel in Manhattan.
