The Bristal Assisted Living at Garden City recently hosted a lively luau party that brought joy and excitement to residents and team members alike. The event was a festive celebration with tropical decorations, Hawaiian music and delicious island-inspired cuisine.
Dancers from Dance Aloha, as well as Dancer Aisha Dance, led hula lessons and performed for residents in our assisted living and memory care neighborhoods.
Residents and team members, wearing colorful, tropical garb, were joined by professional Hawaiian dancers, wearing traditionally-inspired Hawaiian hula skirts, floral garlands, and leis. Residents learned some hula dance moves and took photos with luau-themed props.
Featured menu items for the luau included whole roasted suckling pig, grilled chicken teriyaki and pineapple skewers, Pulehu steak tips, and tuna poke bowls, along with Hawaiian fried rice and tropical fruit and vegetable slaw. Fun fact: Pulehu is a Hawaiian word meaning to cook over hot coals or to broil.
The day was a great success and led to a lot of socializing, laughter and fun for all involved!
