Residents at The Bristal Assisted Living at Englewood recently followed the Yellow Brick Road for an immersive celebration of The Wizard of Oz.
More than just a beloved movie, the 1939 classic was groundbreaking for its shift from black-and-white to dazzling Technicolor. Many residents vividly recalled seeing the movie for the first time in theaters or on television. Those memories sparked heartfelt conversations and nostalgia.
The celebration itself was as colorful as Oz itself, complete with a Wickedly Sweet & Glinda Glow Lemonade Bar, an Enchanted Emerald Fountain, and Poppy Field Strawberries. Residents also explored an Oz Museum, filled with fascinating history and fun facts about the original film and the Frank L. Baum book series on which it was based, and the many adaptation it has inspired, from The Wiz to Wicked and beyond.
