Residents from The Bristal at North Woodmere enjoyed an uplifting visit to the Hewlett-East Rockaway Jewish Centre (HERJC), where they spent quality time with preschool students in celebration of Sukkot.
Highlights included story time and crafting bookmarks and gingerbread sukkahs together. Sukkahs are open-roofed temporary structures that are erected during Sukkot to symbolize the huts where Jewish people lived when they fled across the desert in Egypt and they commemorate the coming together of friends and family for celebration.
The residents were thrilled to engage with the children under the HERJC sukkah, sharing laughter and meaningful moments together. The children were truly delighted to have this visit too. Two of the residents were even able to introduce their great grandchildren, who attend the preschool at the HERJC, and spent the afternoon creating getting to know their great grandchildren's classmates.
This special day fostered joy, intergenerational connection and a sense of community, leaving everyone feeling happy and lighthearted.
