The Bristal Assisted Living is proud to announce that our five New Jersey communities and our Manhattan community, The Bristal at York Avenue, have achieved a SAGECare Platinum Credential.
This prestigious credential is a testament to the unwavering commitment of The Bristal to provide an inclusive and affirming environment for LGBTQ+ older adults.
SAGECare awarded our New Jersey and Manhattan communities with its SAGECare Credential after a rigorous assessment of policies, practices, and staff training to create an inclusive and welcoming space for all residents, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
"We are thrilled to partner with SAGECare in our shared mission to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults," said Amy Silva-Magalhaes, Chief Operating Officer of The Bristal Assisted Living. "At The Bristal, we believe in fostering a community where everyone feels respected, valued, and celebrated for who they are. This credential reaffirms our dedication to providing an inclusive environment that prioritizes the well-being of all residents."
The SAGECare credentialing process evaluates senior living communities based on various criteria, including non-discrimination policies, staff training, LGBTQ+ cultural competency, community engagement, and resident support services. By meeting and exceeding these standards, The Bristal Assisted Living communities at Englewood, Somerset, Waldwick, Wayne, Woodcliff Lake, and York Avenue have demonstrated their commitments to promoting a diverse and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ seniors.
According to the expert team at SAGECare, "Cultural competency isn't just about meeting the needs of a diverse population -- it's about business taking a stand and embracing the richness of human experience. It's about ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported regardless of identity... By implementing strategies through consulting and training, business can ensure that they provide inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environments for LGBTQ+ individuals, improving both organizational outcomes and community impact."
