The New York Senior Softball Association (NYSSA), gathered at Cantiague Park on July 12th for The Bristal All-Stars game. The Bristal All-Stars game is a matchup between players from the league in their 80s and 90s. This year, the players commemorated the 50th anniversary of the 1973 World Series by dawning hats representing the Mets and the A's.
The Bristal All-Stars recognized their teammate, Huntington resident Jack Battaglia, who survived a quadruple bypass and a kidney transplant in 2020 and 2021. Jack said, "[Baseball] means everything to me, I played ball all my life."
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman threw out the first pitch.
