The Bristal at East Northport Honors Michael P's 100th Birthday and His Lifetime of Service

This month, we had the joy and privilege of celebrating a truly special milestone - Michael P's 100th birthday.

Born in Brooklyn and shaped by a lifetime of service to others, Michael's story is one to inspire us all. As a young man, he served his country during World War II with the 6th Armored Division in France and Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged in 1946.

After returning home, Michael earned a bachelor's degree in history from St. Francis College in Brooklyn and a master's degree in social work from Fordham University, and went on to spend nearly 40 years with Catholic Charities. His leadership helped transform the lives of countless New Yorkers. He was especially instrumental in developing award-winning geriatric care programs, which combined casework, psychiatric support, and food services for the elderly, including Meals on Wheels.

Michael concluded his career as Executive Director of Upper Manhattan Community Mental Health, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, vision, and tireless dedication.

Beyond his professional life, Michael and his beloved late wife, Marguerite, raised six children -- each following in their father's footsteps with careers dedicated to the service of others in healthcare, law, and public service. Today, he is the proud grandfather of 14 and is soon to welcome his seventh great-grandchild into the world.

We asked Michael how he feels at 100 years old and he said, "I don't feel any different than I did yesterday." He continued jovially, "I hope someday to be old!"

We are honored to celebrate a centenarian whose life reminds us of the power of purpose, family, and community. Happy 100th, Michael!
