At the Bristal at Westbury, residents recently took an inspired step through time with Cinematic Time Machine, an immersive experience celebrating the rich and ever-evolving world of film.
Designed to engage all five senses, this event transformed the Performing Arts Center into a nostalgic journey through movie history -- from the Silent Era to today's cinematic marvels.
As the scent of popcorn filled the space, residents explored themed stations, delineated by velvet ropes, which included interactive displays on the golden era of Hollywood, early television, and modern-day cinema. Hands-on exhibits featured a green screen photo op, VR demos, 3D glasses, View-Masters, and life-sized movie posters -- offering moments of wonder, reminiscence, and joyful learning.
A highlight of the afternoon was Super Movie Music, a dynamic live musical lecture by Dr. David Podles, a concert musician and music professor. He shared insights into the plots of beloved films and brought them to life with stirring renditions of their iconic scores.
The immersive event ended in true Hollywood style. Residents walked the red carpet at our Oscars Café. They watched clips of famous acceptance speeches, then offered acceptance speeches for the fun awards they were given.
