The Bristal at York Avenue invited author Alex Prud'homme to be the latest presenter in the Signature Author Series, to discuss his work Dinner with the President: Food, Politics and a History of Breaking Bread at the White House, about the favored recipes of former Presidents of the United States.
The book explores how meals at the White House, from George Washington's time to Joe Biden's administration, have shaped diplomacy and decision-making. Prud'homme shared amusing anecdotes rich with historic detail, providing a unique glimpse into how the power of the dinner table has shaped our nation.
The presentation was brought to life by the dining team led by Chef Adrian, who prepared tasting portions for residents of some of the past presidents' favorite drinks and snacks, including Martha Washington's Preserved Cherries and Abraham Lincoln's Gingerbread Men.
Residents received signed copies of Dinner with the President and are looking forward to the next event in the Signature Author Series. Copies of Alex Prud'homme's work can be purchased from Penguin Random House.
