Mother's Day at Lake Success: A Joyful Celebration of Connection and Care

At The Bristal at Lake Success, Mother's Day is both a cherished celebration and a meaningful time for connection.

As a community dedicated exclusively to memory care, The Bristal at Lake Success understands the unique dynamics that come with honoring special occasions for residents and their family members. It is vital to foster an atmosphere that promotes joy, love, engagement, and reminiscence, especially during important holidays.

This year's Mother's Day celebration was filled with warmth and comfort. Residents gathered with their families for a festive brunch, complete with a carving station, pasta and omelet action stations, a cocktail bar, and an array of sumptuous desserts. The community was elegantly decorated in pink florals, and a custom photo backdrop provided the perfect setting for capturing joyful family memories. At the Flower Bar, residents and cherished guests delighted in creating their own personalized bouquets— a hands-on sensory activity that invited creativity, sparked conversation, and made for a lovely keepsake.

For individuals living with memory loss, it is often simple, shared experiences that create meaning. During the celebration for Mother's Day, team members incorporated evidence-based communication strategies and modeled this practice for residents' loved ones. They encouraged family members to meet their loved ones where they are, stepping gently into their world with curiosity and acceptance, rather than quizzing or correcting. Sensory-friendly activities for engagement were also provided to keep the day uplifting, relaxing, and memorable for all.

At Lake Success, Mother's Day was bright and meaningful, not just for our residents, but for their families too. It provided a chance to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives, to enjoy the company of loved ones, and to experience meaningful moments of joy and togetherness.
