Pick a Peck: Your Comprehensive Guide to Apple Picking in the Tri-State Area

As we move from late summer into early fall, the cooling harvest air offers many opportunities to visit local farmer’s markets for hayrides, hot apple cider donuts, and apple picking. There are dozens of orchards on Long Island, as well as in Dutchess County and New Jersey, that have pick-your-own (PYO) fields with a variety of apples to choose from.

We’ve compiled a list of fun farm destinations below with their hours of operation, reservation requirements and more, but we still suggest calling ahead to check if anything has changed and to confirm the fields are open.

Many of these farms also offer a variety of other u-pick crops, like pumpkins, fresh flowers, peaches, and more, as well as other locally grown produce, freshly baked goods, harvest games and activities, and even live entertainment! Check out the farms’ website below to plan your visits accordingly.
